The restaurants in the towns and islands of the Great Barrier Reef region offer some of the best food in the world. Being a coastal area, these restaurants are most likely to specialize in seafood.   • Beach House

Couple by the name of Danny Chapman and Lisa Mackay run the Beach House restaurant which mostly serves Australian cuisine on its menu. Their trademark dish of baby barramundi on rice noodles with herb salad is becoming every tourist’s favourite. The restaurant also offers a wide list of Australian wines in all price ranges.

  • Enterprise Charters

This restaurant is atop the world famous ‘Enterprise’ yacht. It serves some of the best cuisines and Australian wines where even dietitians menu for you, can be requested.   • Far Horizons

A part of the Angsana Spa Resort, this restaurant serves up its speciality i.e. Asian Cuisine. The surroundings are romantic with candlelit tables having a seaside view, along with innovative decors of flaming torches and tall palm trees. Macadamia-crusted soft shell crab with banana blossom is perfect, if you are a seafood lover.

  • La Fontaine

As the name suggests, the cuisine is Asian and the interiors are done up with traditional 18th century Asian artefacts and antiques. And outdoor restaurant surrounded by a serene garden, water falls and rock pools, the setting is perfect for a romantic couple.

  • Osprey’s

Thal Beach Lodge owned, 'Osprey’s' restaurant has always been famous among celebrities and political leaders. An outdoor seaside restaurant that looks over the rainforest of Port Douglas, this Asian eating places spices up some interesting dishes like green curry of crocodile and prawns and wild barramundi in Asian spices. This one is supposed to be the best quality steakhouse restaurant in the Great Barrier Reef region. It is a known fact that the restaurant imports quality steak from the regional areas of Australia with preferred cuts like sirloin and rib fillet. Try mixed grill, which is full filling enough to satiate your whole day’s fill. Other than steak, the restaurant also presents salmon, sausages, lambs, etc. on its menu. For the vegetarians this place is not for you.

A part of Hamilton Island's Resorts, Azure is a daytime cafe overlooking the waters of Whitsunday islands. It is predominantly known for its plentiful and delicious buffet breakfast, but on certain days it is also open for lunch on the outdoor deck. Its breakfast menu includes freshly baked breads, pastries, tropical juices, and freshly brewed coffee.

  • Red Rice

Red Rice serves some great Vietnamese cuisine in an awesome contemporary décor. The food is tasty and the wines are selective but of high-quality. A dish worth a mention is its spring rolls and fish cakes as well as its dessert: coconut panna cotta with black sticky rice.

An all day dining family restaurant. The interiors have been designed in bright colours with the choice of having meals along the resort pool in tropical surroundings. Breakfast servings are more preferred in this restaurant with lunch offerings being the typical café style food like wraps, burgers, sandwiches, seafood and salads. Kids will surely be happy because breakfast, lunch and dinner is free for them.
